Choose Soft Mode for a relaxed start
If you want cozy building, farming, and exploration with less pressure, Soft Mode is the best way to begin Solarpunk.
Solarpunk Gameplay
Solarpunk is set in a technically advanced world of floating islands. The embedded clips below show how building, renewable energy, co-op play, farming, automation, and airship exploration fit together.
Design your dream home base with a wide range of materials and decorations. You are free to build cozy spaces, add tiny details, and turn a floating island into a practical home for crafting, farming, power systems, and exploration.
Generate electricity using sunlight, wind, and water. Weather conditions affect how much energy you produce, so you will need to plan ahead, store electricity in batteries, and use wireless power to keep the base running smoothly.
Play solo or with friends. Everyone has their own inventory, so a group can build a shared project together or let each player create a personal corner of the same skybound home.
Solarpunk treats animals as neighbors, not resources to exploit. Pigs can help by digging up truffles when cared for, while fruits and vegetables become your main source of food once seeds grow into harvestable crops.
Automate routine work with transport drones and energy-powered systems. Gathering resources and watering plants can become part of a broader production loop, leaving more time to expand the base and discover new islands.
Each player can build their own airship. Use it to travel to surrounding islands and discover new resources.
Solarpunk Beginner Guide
These beginner tips cover the early Solarpunk survival loop: choosing a relaxed mode, storing water, reading the in-game guide, protecting crops, starting co-op, and building toward your first airship.
Solarpunk is a calm cozy survival crafting game made by a tiny core team. It is about building, farming, exploring floating islands, and shaping a peaceful home in the sky rather than rushing through a huge production.

Water storage matters when rain is rare. Later, research the carafe and boil water in the oven so trips away from home are easier.
The Survival Guide explains key systems and helps when progression is unclear, including animal breeding and product gathering.
Use crop waiting time to place walls, decorate rooms, and shape your first home instead of rushing only the next objective.
Storms can damage crops, so build a greenhouse once plants become important for food, crafting, or progression.
Iron is a useful early resource. When you spot iron patches while exploring, hit them with your pickaxe and bring the materials home.
Wheat is not found on the first island, so do not get stuck searching at home. Progress exploration when recipes start asking for it.
Airships are personal in multiplayer. If a friend built one, you still need your own, and faster airships unlock later for smoother travel.
Start a world, press ESC, choose Host Game, press ESC again, and invite friends into the session.
Roof pieces can feel awkward at first. Once you understand how the parts connect, house building becomes much easier.
If you get trapped in geometry, open Settings, go to General, scroll to the bottom, and use the Unstuck Me option.
Grow crops, care for animals, tune your energy system, decorate your home, and explore new islands without treating the game like a race.
